The odds of Jesus Christ fulfilling only 8 of the many prophecies made about Him is equal to covering the entire state of Texas with silver dollar coins 2 feet deep, marking only one of them and having a blind-folded person select the marked one at random the first time.

The Great Questions of Life | What is the truth about God?

What is the truth about god? [Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3] [part 4]

Why Should You Know the Truth?

Why should you know the truth about God? Does it really matter to you personally? Yes indeed. The truth about God is very important! In fact, it's a matter of life and death.

Do you remember in chapter one how we learned that the result of sin separates us from God? Well, when we understand the truth about God, we will not want to be separated from Him. The Bible says:

'Eternal life is to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent.'
(John 17:3).

In other words, you must know God in order to have eternal life. God, and God alone, is the giver of life. He offers you a better, fuller life now and a never-ending perfect life after death.

Because of Who God Is

God is the Creator, the Ruler, and the Judge of the universe. Think about that. As Creator He is the architect and builder of everything that exists. He owns everything He has made and sustains it according to His sovereign plan. It follows that since we are all part of His creation, God also has a special plan for our lives. This makes it vitally important for us to know the truth about God. You see, what we know about Him (or don't know about Him) directly affects our lives.
As Ruler, God has ordained a standard, rules of conduct, by which we are to live. Those who follow His standard will be blessed. These rules of conduct can be found in the Bible--God's Word.

There is a consequence to the person who chooses not to follow God's laws--death. As Judge, God alone will decide the final reward or punishment of men and women according to how they have responded to Him.

God is a loving Father, too. He offers you true joy. You need to know Him to enjoy His love and blessings. Remember, God wants to save us from sin and eternal punishment because He is a loving, just and fair God. But if we refuse to obey His laws, He will allow us to suffer the consequences of our behavior. God will reward us according to our obedience or disobedience to Him.

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
(Bible, Romans 1:20)

Because to Please God, You Must Know Him

Another reason we need to know the truth about God is to learn how we might please Him. Because to please God, you must know Him. God's children love Him and want to please Him. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, , you are now a child of God. You will want to know your heavenly Father better every day and to find out what He requires so that you can please Him in all that you do. This is the only way to find real satisfaction in life, because each of us were created to do the things that please God.
